The 1.13-km six-lane two-way flyover was built under the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) at a cost of Rs 387 crore. One feature that will make the Balanagar Flyover different from most other flyovers is a 6mm thick Asphaltic sheet spread between the bitumen layer and slab of the flyover. Similar sheets were laid on Attapur Flyover and after it yielded good results, it was replicated for the Balanagar Flyover as well, officials said, adding that the sheet would absorb water protecting the concrete and steel of the flyover.
