The Tridala Temple of Wadeshwar is located in Ambhai, Sillod Taluka in Aurangabad District of Maharashtra State. The temple consists of three shrines, one each to the west, north and south with the entrance to the east. All the shrines have vestibules in front. All the doorways are elaborately carved. The vestibules of the main shrine have niched recess on either side, but they are now empty. The niches of the other vestibules have deities like Vaishnavi, Brahmi, etc. There is no separate Nandi- Mandapa now, except the Nandi in the courtyard. There are number of images of Gods or Goddesses and Surasundaris. Undoubtedly the Shiva images predominate on the entire exterior. The images of Nataraja, Bhairava, Mahishasurmardini, Varahavatara, Surya and Brahma are to be found in the main niches. Shikhara is a total wreck. So nothing can be said precisely about it. The modern construction of the tower has made it impossible even to trace the style of the original construction. The exuberant nature of the exterior sculptures suggest that the construction had taken place under the Chalukyas of Kalyani or in their period. Though the authorship is not known, the stylistic consideration the temple can be taken as of the first half of the 12th cent A.D., if not earlier.
