The Mark Twain Riverboat takes guests on a 12 minute cruise around the Rivers of America at Tokyo Disneyland. This clip shows a trainer in action training a new cast member in steam. The trainer and trainee are Park Operations cast, while the other gentleman is with Maintenance. While the Park Ops cast are in charge of operating the boat (controlling the boats speed and direction, along with ensuring show quality and playing the role of captain upstairs), the maintenance cast member is responsible for monitoring the operation of the boiler and engines (adding water, monitoring steam pressure, controlling the temperature of the flame, performing regular maintenance [blowdowns]). The cast of the Liberty Belle Riverboat at Walt Disney World in Florida take on both the role of maintaining proper boiler conditions as well as operating the boat and are Park Ops cast.
