SNEAK PEAKS Bikepacking Expedition - The Inaugural Space Odyssey

136 riders gathered in Bolzano for the first-ever Sneak Peaks bikepacking event, embarking on an adventure through the Italian Dolomites and Slovenian Triglav Mountains. Participants chose between 450km, 750km, or 1,087km routes, all featuring rugged terrain, steep climbs, and significant elevation gain. The inaugural race was marked by extreme weather, including relentless rain, blizzard-like storms, sub-zero temperatures, and 50cm of snow in the Fanes region. But expedition leader Raphael Albrecht isn’t just chasing adventure and big numbers. The event stands out with initiatives like a flight ban for participants’ travel, compensation for all CO₂ emissions, solidarity-, and FLINTA* tickets for underrepresented groups. There is no cut off time and riders are not only allowed, but encouraged to form teams and ride together, fostering an open and inclusive environment. One journey, two camera perspectives - Steffi Köhler’s short documentary captures the essence of SNEAK PEAKS through the voices of riders, the expedition leader, and rifugio hosts. The film shows the vast challenges and beauty of the event, from the start to the emotional final at Ahoi Minigolf, all while exploring the question: What actually is the “Party Pace Patrol”?
