Hey folks, guess what Cupid came by and dropped off the other day? Well, Cupid ordered it on Valentine's Day, but UPS took it's time getting it here. But that doesn't manner...because here is possibly the last rifle I plan to buy in the immediate future, not until I sell some other rifles and make room...I literally have run out of space in my gunsafe, if you can believe that. Here is the Mosin Nagant M91/30 Rifle, a sniper version with a PU scope (or PE scope depending on how you want to define it), very similar in appearance to the one used by Jude Law in "Enemy At The Gates." Let's be perfectly clear: this is NOT an original sniper rifle, it's a reproduction of one, coming from Southern Ohio Gun. The traditional sniper rifle marks are not present, and the scope is an exact replica of the original PU used on Mosin Nagant and Tokarev SVT-40 rifles during World War 2. It even comes with a quality control certificate from the factory in Russia that made it, this one apparently made in 2008 or 2009. Regardless, it's just like the original. And the rifle itself is probably the BEST looking regular Mosin Nagant I've ever owned. The crown and barrel look very good, the stock is in perfect condition. This one comes from the Izhevsk Arsenal, from 1943. What's interesting is that this gun had virtually no cosmoline or grease in the parts. It was practically ready to fire, although I still ended up cleaning it anyways. The action is pretty good, but it's hard getting used to using a turn-down bolt. I will say that it makes a lot of sense now seeing other people cock the bolt before opening it and chucking out an empty shell. The action is very stiff, and it cocking the bolt spring takes a lot of tense off the bolt handle, making the process of ejecting a spent round much easier. Anyway, just waiting on a weekend (soon) to take this puppy out on the range. In the meantime, enjoy the vid! It's a really good rifle...lets hope it shoots as good as it looks!
