Twisted birch withe with locking function

Twisted withies are very strong and useful for many things. They can be made from matchstick thick branches up to thumb thick withies depending on the area of use. When bulding shelters, tripods, fich traps etc they work great. The whole idea is to make the withe more flexible. When twisting it you whant the wood to crack lengthwise. Be careful not to break the wood. With this locking device you can conect several of these to form a longer rope. I find the birch to be the best choice but I´ve used many other species with success like hazel, rowan and willow. When the sap is rising they are easy to twist and through summer. Later on they are more prone to break. Hope you enjoy.
