The Gundam craze began in 1979 with Mobile Suit Gundam, a TV anime series featuring giant robots, or mecha. The Gundam franchise became a worldwide sensation and action figures, anime and manga, cosplay, video games, and all sorts of other Gundam inspired creations came about, including Gundam Cafés. Sadly, Japan's iconic Gundam Cafés closed for good early this year, but Michelle had the great opportunity to visit the branch at Akihabara months before that and was able to record her experience.
