1999 V6 New Edge Mustang with 226,000 on the odometer. engine is stock and still running strong! The Essex 3.8 liter has proven itself very reliable with all the abuse it's taken in the 20+ years of owning. It was an occasional drag racer in its previous iteration. But then I discovered autocross. ☺ 1979-2004 Mustangs have lots of aftermarket support. One can turn them into just about anything you want. I chose beefier drivetrain and coilover suspension. Stock 3.8 G-Force T5 transmission with 2.95 1st/0.59 5th with 26 spline input Aluminum driveshaft 8.8 rear end 3.73 final drive Torsen T-2R high bias differential 31 spline axles Stoptech brake rotors Hawk HPS pads Front & rear coilovers on single-adjustable Konis Maximum Motorsports goodies: Front A-arms Caster/camber plates Subframe connectors Heavy duty lower control arms Standard duty torque arm Panhard bar BBK strut tower brace Always a work in progress though amirite The advantage of the V6 engine in my case is its more favorable weight distribution being lighter engine. Maybe one day I'll cam it and do ported heads.
