Learn about high card points and how to assess your hand for bidding. To make the right bid you need to be able to figure out what your partner has in their hand without showing each other your cards, so that you can determine the best bid for both of you. High card points = Add up points for high cards: Ace = 4 King = 3 Queen = 2 Jack = 1 To give you a sense of whether you have a good or bad hand: 10 points per suit (4 + 3 + 2 + 1), so there are 40 points total Average hand has 10 points. Super Suit Choice: You want to pick a super suit/trump where you and your partner have 8 or more cards between you in the suit. If you don’t have a suit that fits that, consider “no super suit or trump”. Looking for more lessons?
