Perfect for EYFS, Key Stage 1 (KS1), Key Stage 2 (KS2) and other little learners. Welcome to this short informational video about the environmental artist, nature artist, and land artist, Andy Goldsworthy. Andy Goldsworthy is a British artist known for his creative use of natural materials found in the environment to make sculptures and land art. He was born in 1956 in Cheshire, England and grew up in Yorkshire, where he developed a love for nature. Goldsworthy's artworks often involve creating sculptures using natural materials such as stones, leaves, ice, and branches. He arranges these materials in a way that highlights their natural beauty and creates intricate patterns and shapes. He also uses the environment as his canvas, making artworks directly on the ground, trees, or rocks. One of Goldsworthy's most famous pieces is called "Stone River," which he created by carefully laying out hundreds of rocks in a winding line along a riverbed. Another well-known piece is "Roof," which he made by stacking slate stones in a cone shape on the roof of an old farmhouse. Goldsworthy's artworks are often temporary, as they are subject to the natural elements and will eventually decay or be washed away. This highlights the transience of nature and the impermanence of all things. In this artist study, we'll explore some of Goldsworthy's most iconic artworks and discuss the themes and messages he conveys through his work. Whether you're in EYFS, Key Stage 1 (KS1), Key Stage 2 (KS2), or just a little learner, Goldsworthy's artwork is sure to inspire and awe.
