A multimeter is a measuring device, which combines several measuring functions, e.g. ohmmeter, voltmeter and amperemeter. I am going to make a demonstration on the example of a one of the most popular models - UNI-T UT33C multimeter https://toolboom.com/en/pocket-digita... Let's have a look at the device. modern digital multimeter consists of the following parts: an information display; a rotary switch for range and measurement functions selection; measuring probe connection terminals; buttons for additional functions. If you look at the rotary switch you may see that all the possible functions and measuring ranges are marked around it. Each of the switch positions corresponds to its own probes connection combination. COM terminal is a general connector - it is used with all measurement modes. Traditionally you connect a black probe to it. 10-Ampere terminal is used for measuring large currents in 10-Ampere range. And for the rest of the functions you should use the middle connector. The correct probe connection is very important during the measurement process. Most of the modern multimeters, including this one, have a protection from input voltage. The maximum input voltage is usually specified in the manual, so you should read it carefully before you start. So, as you measure resistance and the inductance and capacitance you need to ensure there is no voltage using the same multimeter, and only after that start measurements. In this video I tried to explain the basic digital multimeter functions. I demonstrated Voltage, Current, Resistance, temperature measurements. The important thing is to know which value are you going to measure, what is the measuring range and how to connect the probes correctly - and your device will have a long life and stable operation.
