RACER founder, President and Executive Publisher Paul Pfanner was among the 2022 class of the Sports Car Club of America Hall of Fame, which recognizes each member’s contributions to the Club’s history and the world of motorsports. Pfanner joined Charlie Clark, Howard Duncan, Greg Pickett and Mark Weber in the 2022 class, and was officially join the SCCA Hall of Fame during a virtual induction on January 21, 2022 — the opening day of the 2022 SCCA Convention. Though his SCCA career began as an aspiring Formula Ford racer in the early 1970s, Pfanner's longer-lasting contribution came first as the publisher of his local Cal Club Region newsletter, which opened the door for his company, now RACER Media & Marketing, to publish SportsCar Magazine and become the official monthly record of the Club’s activities. Under Pfanner’s guidance since 1984, SportsCar Magazine became the Club’s most visible marketing piece, covering the Club’s activities and highlighting its members to make SCCA more attractive. Through SportsCar, RACER magazine and RACER.com, Pfanner and his organization continue to promote the SCCA to the motorsports world and beyond. "The mix of emotions I felt when I was told I would be inducted into the SCCA Hall of Fame by President Mike Cobb is something I have never quite experienced before," Pfanner said. "To be in the company of these amazing SCCA legends is beyond humbling and I am truly honored, humbled and, truthfully, still in shock. The SCCA has been at the center of my life and my identity since my first SCCA event at Riverside in October 1969, and my many wonderful and supportive relationships in the SCCA have made me who I am."
