Hazardous substance found in Loughborough business premises Leicestershire Police have revealed the incident on Baxter Gate centres on reports of a potentially hazardous substance found inside business premises. Officers were called shortly after 1pm following the report. The premises involved, along with a number of nearby businesses, have been evacuated as a precaution while emergency services deal with the incident. Road closures are also in place in the area alongside the cordon, which police say has been put in place to keep the public safe. Leicestershire Police said officers are working alongside colleagues from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service to carry out further enquiries. News Published: 16:35 11/02/2026 Following initial testing, we can confirm that a substance found inside business premises in Baxter Gate is not believed to be hazardous. Further tests will be undertaken in due course, but the substance is believed to be salt and the call was made with good intent. Cordons and road closures which were put in place to keep the public safe have since been lifted.
