The great songwriter and piano roll artist Pete Wendling only recorded a few 78 rpm recordings of his playing. His mid 1920s style was apparently very different from that of his playing ca. 1916-1922. Pete Wendling was reputedly fired from the QRS Piano Roll Co. in 1925. After that, many rolls were still issued as "played by Pete Wendling." These were the work of QRS staff arranger J. Lawrence Cook. Interestingly, the post 1925 QRS Wendling rolls sound a bit more like his playing on this 1926 Cameo record. That may be because this is the style J. Lawrence Cook actually heard Wendling play in person.
