I tested Candido 800, a 35mm film stock. It’s a high speed cinema film with the ramjet layer removed. Which means… halation. Based on the website’s description, you wouldn’t know it had halation because it doesn’t make mention of it…anywhere. I purchased this film stock on a whim as I’d never seen it before and figured I would give it a go. It wasn’t until I got my scans back that I noticed halation so I went back on their website to read the reviews. Many mentions of halation were found. I am a little bummed I didn’t know there was halation, had I known I would have chosen a better suited setting. Learned my lesson: always read reviews ;) But I am very happy with some of the photos and would love to try this film out again. Anyways, I break down my experience with Candido 800, my results from my Contax T2 and overall qualities I observed in my scans.
