Yes our boots are full nails! So why don't you feel them? First off, neat rows of nails get driven into the midsole during the bottoming process which will go through the leather layers and eventually hit a steel plate that is temporarily inside the boot. This steel plate comes from the mold (called a last) that we leave inside the boot while we are building it to form its shape.. When the nails get hammered through the insole and reach this last, they will immediately "clinch" and turn back in on themselves, sucking all the leather down into place. Later on in the bookmaking process (as seen here) long heel base nails are used to instal the leather heel stack, which will penetrate all the layers of the material and again clinch back in on themselves making the boot even more secure without sacrificing on comfort. Your feet won't touch the nails, and your boots will be the toughest out there.
