CA EDD Update - PUA Repayments, Pending, Work History Document Requests, Unemployment Update

CA EDD Update on the going requests for PUA Work History Documentation from the EDD for Claimants on PUA claims in 2020 and/or 2021. As the requests continue to go out it is emerging a number of claimants on PUA do not have the documentation to submit to the EDD, and it appears many of those may have been in fact not eligible to receive benefits. A number of claimants on PUA were never self-employed, did not have any attachment to work the workforce in several years before 2020, nor did they file their taxes. For these group of claimants, it appears likely they will receive overpayment notices as a result. The wait for EDD phone interviews continues for many which currently stands at a 6 month wait time. Significant progress has been made on claims with Pending Payments which look to be cleared out by the end of the month.
