🎣Fishing the Halibut Capital of the World for Multiple Species of Fish: Catch, Clean, Cook This adventure was two epic days on the water out of Homer, Alaska — the Halibut Capital of the World. Day One: I joined Capt. Dale on Kachemak Bay, where the action started fast with a huge silver (coho) salmon that put on an aerial show, followed by a solid halibut and a few tasty rockfish. Day Two: We ran 80 miles offshore into the Gulf of Alaska aboard Capt. Scott’s 38-foot catamaran. The Barren Islands never disappoint — the seas were wild, but the fishing was on fire! We hauled in plenty of halibut and some monster yelloweye rockfish.
