Murano Glass chandeliers are famous for their exceptional beauty and unique artistic designs. In early 1700's Venetian glass artisans of Giuseppe Briati workshop pioneered the new chandelier design consisting of a metal frame covered by glass elements and featuring abundant flowers and floral elements. This new chandelier was called "ciocca" or a "bouquet of flowers" and became immensely popular in Europe and beyond, competing with Bohemian crystal chandeliers. The same Murano Glass chandelier design is still in use today. In this video, you will see what it takes to create a Murano Glass chandelier, arm by arm and leaf by leaf, and how each leaf is hand-made by the artisans with utmost skill and care. Creating each individual leaf from several blobs of heated glass, and shaping it by hand, the artisan goes back and forth between the furnace and the bench and then curls the leaf just right to create that beautiful bouquet of stems and leaves of transparent or colored glass. The classic Venetian chandelier is further enhanced by creating multiple tiers in one chandelier, the design that is called Rezzonico after the famous grand multi-tier Murano Glass chandelier that is still hanging in Ca Rezzonico in Venice. At GlassOfVenice we work with distinguished glass factories in Venice who create a variety of classic and modern Murano Glass chandeliers by hand. Each chandelier is custom-made to order to reflect the unique preferences of the customer and shipped directly from Venice in specially-made protective packaging. In a very rare case when any parts arrive damaged we fully stand by each shipment and will provide replacement parts as necessary. We recommend that you avoid buying Murano Glass chandeliers in Venice as it is much harder to assure safe shipment to your home and argue your case in the absence of English-speaking customer service and U.S. phone number should anything go wrong.
