Living up to high expectations, comparison to others, and constantly looking into the future and the past causes many high school students to lose track of the present on a daily basis-even resulting in long lasting mental health issues. Vikashni examines her own experiences along with her peers’ experiences to examine the role of finding peace in the moment and share the message with others who might need to hear it as well. Vikashni has always been one that aligns her values and goals with Albert Pike’s quote- “what we do for ourselves dies with us alone. what we have done for the world and others lives forever” - and by sharing this Tedx talk, she hopes to do more of the same using her experiences. Vikashni is a Junior at Frisco Heritage High School. She wanted to become a TEDx speaker to use her voice to make a difference in the world around her one word at a time. She believes it is a gift to not only have a voice but have one that people are willing to listen to. The topic of Vikashnis speech is “finding peace in the moment.” In our fast paced world today, teenagers, especially high schoolers, struggle with problems like hypercompetition, living up to expectations, and constant pressure many people don't understand. She believes it is important to share her experiences with others and encourage those that may be struggling with similar issues to push for change. Vikashni is passionate about dance, education, spending time with friends, and meeting new people. After highschool she would like to become a compassionate and skilled healthcare professional, committed to advancing equitable access to quality care and improving health outcomes for communities around the world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
