I Visited CHIDDINGSTONE Village In Kent - You WON’T BELIEVE THIS PLACE!

You won’t believe this place - it is time to time travel back to the Tudor period! In today’s episode I am leaving behind the seaside and venturing to the hidden gem village of Chiddingstone in Kent, nestled away close by to Sevenoaks and Edenbridge.  With the nearest train station 3 miles away this is as tranquil and peaceful as it gets, deep into the Kent countryside!  In this 4K walking tour I’ll be taking you for an adventure around the village as we explore all there is to see and do. If you love long walks, scenery and history, this is the place to visit this Summer.   Walk with me through the grounds of Chiddingstone Castle which is a visitor attraction you can visit Wednesdays-Sundays throughout the year.  As always I get some good coffee at the tea rooms before taking in the beautiful gardens with its own orangery and fishing lake!  Afterwards we move onto the village, owned by National Trust and a great example of a one-street Tudor village – cobbled streets and half-timber buildings, it’s like a time capsule.  We check out the historic St Mary’s church before having a look at the old post office and café.  We also check out the landmark Chiding Stone, a mysterious large outcrop of stone just outside the village, said to be where the village gets its name from.  Saving the best until last, I get a beer and some good fish & chips at The Castle Inn, a 15th century pub which has just reopened after an extensive closure for restoration after a medieval well underneath the building collapsed.  It is seriously a must-visit country pub with amazing food and drink!     Perfect for a day trip with the family, a hike or even a dog-walk, come and see why Chiddingstone is one of the best places to visit this summer and quite possibly the best hidden gem in all of Kent!  Visited July 2025.
