Cristina Sanchez presents "Introduction to the Endocannabinoid System" The endocannabinoid system has a tremendous potential as a therapeutic target for a wide variety of ailments and symptoms. In this presentation, the molecular explanation for this potential will be provided by introducing the constituents of this system, its mode of action and the physiological functions it controls. CRISTINA SANCHEZ Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Complutense University of Madrid Cristina Sánchez obtained her PhD with Honors in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Complutense University in 2000, under the supervision of Dr. Manuel Guzmán. After a 3-year potstdoctoral stay at University of California Irvine, she returned to Spain, where she started coordinating her own line of reasearch within Dr. Guzmán's lab, focused on describing and exploting the endocannabinoid system as a therapeutic target in breast cancer. Sánchez is the current Secretary and one of the founding members of the Spanish Observatory of Medicinal Cannabis, a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Society of Cannabinoid Research and Vice-Dean of Research of the School of Biology at Complutense University.
