Coastal flooding along the Outer Banks in NC from Hurricane Erin, despite the center being nearly 300 miles away! The storm and wind field have expanded in size, which is why impacts have been much greater across parts of the East Coast. This will continue through Thursday before the storm quickly moves away from the coast Friday and into the weekend. Elsewhere, a sloppy tropical wave still not designated an "Invest" in the central Atlantic has a 60% chance for development in the coming days. Ensemble forecast models seem to be in agreement with the system following a path similar to Erin and remaining over the open Atlantic. East of that wave is a far more organized wave, designated Invest 99. Chance for development is a medium 40% chance as of now and doesn't appear to last much beyond the central Atlantic when conditions worsen for development. Elsewhere, no development is expected through the next several days and long-range models keep the Gulf quiet through the end of August.
