文：立原えりか、絵：牛窪良太、音楽：伎芸天、声：山口眞弓、制作：中田　薫、英語訳：マーク・ダンカン 体は小さいけど働き者で知恵のある一寸法師。愛しの姫君を手に入れ、地位と財産を築いていく姿に、夢に向かってがんばろうと励まされます。尺八や太鼓のＢＧＭに耳を傾けながら、みやびな気分も味わってください。 ■作者のことば 御伽草子は、三百五十年ほど前にまとめられた絵入り本で、その時代の人びとを大いに楽しませました。作者については不明です。「一寸法師」は、御伽草子の中では最も有名で、誰もが知っている話です。地位も名も財産もない、体も人並みではなかった一寸法師が、都に出て成功することは、当時の庶民の願いと重なりました。立身出世は、庶民の夢であり強烈な憧れだったのです。子供向けの無邪気なおはなしとして知られる一寸法師ですが、実はしたたか者で、愛する姫君を手に入れるために、卑劣な悪だくみもしました。が、愛する人とふたりになると、身も心も捧げつくすのです。 打出の小槌も、夢と憧れのアイテムです。振るだけで背はもちろんのこと、食べものも金銀も出てくる宝ものがあったらと願うのは昔も今も同じ庶民の思いではないでしょうか。(立原えりか ) About ""Issun Boshi"" 　　TACHIHARA Erika The ""Otogi-Zoushi"" (Book of Japanese Fairy Tales) was a richly illustrated collection of anonymous tales compiled about 350 years ago, widely read and enjoyed by the people of its time. ""Issun Boshi"" was the most well-known and popular story in the collection. Issun Boshi had no rank, name, wealth, nor even normal size, but went to Miyako and became a success. His tale coincided with the hopes held by the masses of that time. Making something of oneself and leaving one's mark on the world was a dream, even an obsession. ""Issun Boshi"" is thought of as an innocent children's tale, but the hero is actually a wily character who sneakily schemes to make the Prime Minister's daughter his own. Once they are alone together, however, he risks everything for her. The ""Wishing Mallet"" was a particularly desired and sought-after item. Just by giving it a shake, anything could be had -- from Issun Boshi's height to food, gold, and silver.
