Recorded and filmed at Metropolis Studios in Chiswick, Terry Hall chose Salad to team up with for this cover of 1931 classic. This version is produced by Stephen Street. All of the songs, along with a handful that were released on a companion EP, were recorded on one day, Monday, September 4th, 1995, mixed the following day, and released to the buying public a few days later, on Saturday, September 9th. HELP sold over 70,000 copies on day one and reached number one in the UK compilation charts. HELP would have reached number one on the UK albums chart had it been eligible. The album also won a special award at the 1995 Q Awards and the Freddie Mercury Award at the 1996 BRIT Awards.
