Year: 1989 Album: Brain Drain Bassist: Jean Beauvoir (it was not Dee Dee) Genre: Punk Rock ** Last time I did a Ramones song, people had very strong opinions about not using my 5 string bass (even though I only played on 4 strings), and that I didn't down pick through the whole song. I fixed both things this time! :) The live videos aren't very helpful for the song because Jean Beauvoir, the studio bassist, never played it live from what I could find. the first video is a whole step higher and although it has dee dee, most live performances had CJ. CJ, Dee Dee, and Jean all played it a bit differently. Dee Dee followed the guitar and often put a quarter note at the start of the chord changes    • Ramones - Pet Sematary - live 1989   1989 - dee dee playing | fretted and sounds whole step higher. same tuning as studio, but song was moved up in pitch (changed key) 0:04 - p bass, pick, fretted mid neck 0:09 - Higher on neck than studio pitch 2:21 - chorus slides up and then back down (not moving across strings) 2:27 - slides down in the "b" part of the chorus 2:53 - outro fretting hand visible - stays on A String 2:22 & 2:55 & 3:09 - hits a quarter note at the start of the chord, then 8ths    • The Ramones Perform "Pet Sematary" | Lette...   CJ? looks different but could be him - live on letterman 1991 Playing low on neck (d string) & up a whole step from the studio version again pick, jazz? bass (or soap bar. front pickup looks thicker) 0:37 - changes the last note of the verse riff to an open D (whole step below the first note of the riff) 1:56 - mid neck and does a fill    • Ramones - Pet Sematary (live)   2:17 - p bass, pick, CJ, same key as the other live performances, and same position as dee dee 2:36 - no downbeat quarter notes (straight 8ths) Variations    • The Ramones Perform "Pet Sematary" | Lette...   0:37 - changes the last note of the verse riff to an open D (whole step below the first note of the riff)    • Ramones - Pet Sematary - live 1989   2:55 & 3:09 - hits a quarter note at the start of the chord, then 8ths Dee Dee followed the guitar and often put a quarter note at the start of the chord changes Thanks for watching!
