The Yo-Yo Test [Intermittent Recovery – Level 1] (Complete Audio)

This is the most commonly used version of the Yo-Yo Test. There are a few different types including 'intermittent recovery' and 'intermittent endurance'; we explain the difference between them at https://www.beeptraining.app/post/the... This version of the test and several others are included on our Beep Training app (available at Google Play and App Store; links further below). The Yo-Yo Test is heavily influenced by the Beep Test and the idea is the same; participants are required to run between two markers placed 20 metres apart in time with audible beeps. And as the tests progress, the required running speed increases. The crucial difference is that in between shuttles, the Yo-Yo Test has a recovery or rest period, enabling participants to catch their breath. The shuttle and level structure of the Yo-Yo Test are also different to the Beep Test. One shuttle in the Yo-Yo Test (moving ‘out’ from the ‘start’ maker to the ‘return’ marker (20 metres) and then moving ‘back’ to the ‘start’ marker from the ‘return’ marker (20 metres) is actually two shuttles in the Beep Test. And while the Beep Test has levels that are roughly one minute long, the Yo-Yo Test does not. Apart from the very early levels of the Yo-Yo Test where the participant completes a small number of shuttles, the Yo-Yo Test soon falls into the pattern of eight shuttles per level. These two differences ensure that results from the Beep Test and the Yo-Yo Test are not comparable. Enjoy! Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/de...
