Micro Entrepreneurship - From ME to SME

The WHU course 'Global Societal Challenges and Solutions' is held in close collaboration with the Global Economic Symposium (GES). The Global Economic Symposium (http://www.global-economic-symposium.org) aims to identify global challenges, examine their policy and business implications, and formulate concrete action responses to them. In this seminar, students analyze current challenges of the global society and develop concrete measures of how to address these. Each team provided an in-depth analysis of the underlying macro-economic factors as well as a concrete action plan, describing how their idea can be implemented. To convey their ideas to the GES and to a broader audience in general, the students also produced videos describing their specific idea. The student team D. Frenkel, E. Neugebauer, I. Schmidt und J. Vogel elaborated on the relevance of micro entrepreneurship for fighting poverty in emerging countries. As specific solution, the student team introduces an internet platform that allows micro entrepreneurs to find relevant knowledge to grown from micro entrepreneurship to a small or medium sized firm and thus to leverage their positive societal effects.
