Sun Valley | River Run

River Run was first installed in 1992 by Yan. It was the 4th Yan to be installed at Sun Valley, increasing out-of-base capacity at the River Run base by around 33%. It replaced a Hall triple, which the triple was installed in 1970 to replace an American Steel and Wire single chair. That single chair was among some of the first aerial chairlifts ever installed in the world. After four years of operation, River Run had its detachable equipment, line gear, and terminal skins replaced in a big summer of retrofits by Doppelmayr. These retrofits happened because Yan's detachable grips were very weak, and were very prone to slipping. River Run is a Yan-Doppelmayr high speed quad. The Doppelmayr parts consist of ej chairs, hanger arms, DT-104 grips, terminal skins, line gear, sheaves, and a top drive bullwheel. The Yan parts consist of terminal masts and structure, tower tubes, Yan Y lifting frames, and operator house, which has a unique shape. River Run is the shortest detachable lift on Bald Mountain, with a length of 2,976 feet. Recorded on February 13th, 2021
