Co-hosted by Anne-Marie Slaughter, CEO of New America, and Minh-Thu Pham, co-founder and CEO of Project Starling, this exciting conversation gathered leading thinkers, activists, and decision-makers to reimagine the future of multilateral cooperation so that it can meet our collective challenges. The conversation kicked off with brief opening provocations, or 'lightning talks' by Martín Abregú, Vice President of International Programs at the Ford Foundation; Amitabh Behar, Executive Director of Oxfam International; Richard Gowan, UN and Multilateral Diplomacy Director at the International Crisis Group; Kate Higgins, CEO of Cooperation Canada; Stewart Patrick, Senior Fellow and Director of the Global Order and Institutions Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Economist Mariana Mazzucato, followed by contributions from other leaders participating. The discussion addressed: What would it mean to reimagine a new global order rather than attempt a return to the former status quo? Should a reimagined global order be based on a shared, universal core principles, rules, and even values? What are the cornerstones and key features of reimagined cooperation that can advance peace and bring agency to populations that have long been marginalized? What new alliances and partnerships do we need across borders, sectors, and movements?
