Sauces Canyon Bald Eagle Cam - Channel Islands National Park (2026 Season) This live feed brings you to the Sauces Canyon bald eagle nest, overlooking the landscapes of Santa Cruz Island in Channel Islands National Park. ◾️Laid Date 03/16🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚→03/16💔 03/13🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚→03/13💔 03/10🥚🥚🥚🥚→03/10💔 02/06🥚🥚🥚→02/06💔 02/03🥚🥚→02/03💔 01/31 🥚→02/18💔 Note: It is unclear exactly which egg was lost; we can only confirm that one active egg remains. ◾️The Pair: Jak and Audacity This nest is home to a long-bonded pair of bald eagles: ♂Male: Jak (A-40) – Hatched in 2005. He wears a silver ring on his right foot. ♀Female: Audacity (A-48) – Hatched in 2006. She wears a silver ring on her left foot. ◾️A Journey of Resilience and Hope The road for this pair has been incredibly difficult. For several years, Jak and Audacity faced consecutive breeding failures: 2023: Eight eggs were laid, but all were cracked or destroyed. 2024: Six eggs were laid, and all were lost once again. While chemical contamination from DDT-affected fish has historically weakened eggshells in this region, the Institute for Wildlife Studies (IWS) suggests that the specific issues with Audacity's eggs might be due to a genetic disorder. ◾️The 2025 Miracle After years of heartbreak, 2025 brought a long-awaited miracle. Out of three eggs laid, two were lost within hours. However, one egg remained intact. Following 40 days of global hope and prayer, the egg successfully hatched, marking the first time in four years that Jak and Audacity could resume raising their young. ◾️2025 Record: Egg Laid: February 2 Hatch Date: March 14 (SC1: Betty Lou) As we enter the 2026 season, we watch with renewed hope, wishing the best of luck to this resilient pair. ◾️Recommended Viewing To understand the history of this species on the islands, we recommend: 【Return Flight: Restoring the Bald Eagle to the Channel Islands】 • Return Flight: Restoring the Bald Eagle to... ◾️About the Project This camera is a collaboration between Explore.org and the Institute for Wildlife Studies (IWS).
