The Nene Way - Alwalton to Whittlesey

The next stage of our Nene Way adventure. This was a walk of two distance parts. I wasn’t expecting much walking through Peterborough but the approach to the city was phenomenal walking, beautiful glades, bluebell woods and riverside trackways. Once in the city, it lived up to expectations but we were soon out and in the fens. This was a very different section, walking very long straight paths atop of the berms. Flat flat flat …with the surrounding land below the level of the river. Why the Nene Way takes you along a busy fenland road when there is an excellent country park to walk through is baffling… Was glad to arrive in Whittlesey with tired feet playing up. Good coffee and cake to make it all worthwhile though..
