College Street is famous for its book market, colleges around, Indian Coffee House, and other snacks and sweet stalls around the place. Praneel and Adrita guided us to start the day with a simple breakfast from Putiram. From Putiram we had Radhabalabhi and Aloo Tharkari. Adrita informed us that Radhabalabhi is much like daal puri. We also had ice cream sandesh from Putiram. Ice cream sandesh was unique and I really enjoyed it. We came to know from Praneel that, College Street is Asia's second largest open book market and the place has got almost every book in the world. However, it was closed while we were there and we continued to Swadhin Bharat Hindu Hotel, which is one of the most renowned pice hotels in Kolkata. In Swadhin Bharat, you will get simple or budget meals. Pice hotels are considered as the common man's lunch houses in Kolkata. In such pice hotels you will get rice daal and other curries and you need to pay only for what you eat. In Swadhin Bharat Hindu Hotel we enjoyed fish curries, chicken curry, and other vegetable curries with daal and rice.
