We present David Gillespie - A Life of Film. Web premiere event to celebrate The Cinema Museum, Kennington, London, in lieu of the scheduled Kennington Bioscope screening of "Poor Little Rich Girl" at the Museum, postponed due to the closure of arts venues during the Covid-19 outbreak. Produced by Film Friends productions. Huge thanks to Tony Saffrey, Bob Geoghegan and David Wyatt who produced the documentary and suggested posting it. Thanks to the Kennington Bioscope and the Cinema Museum, in particular Michelle Facey and Phil Clark, for mobilising quickly to publicise it! tech notes: YouTube may be currently defaulting to Standard Definition on some platforms to save bandwidth. The smooth motion of the video is disrupted by this; set the video manually to the highest resolution (720p50) if you can. His work as a projectionist in various London cinemas inspired a passion that led him to become an avid film collector. His house in London was crammed with films, many on perilously flammable nitrate stock. Here he gave regular screenings, and film enthusiasts from all over the world came eagerly to see his rare celluloid treasures - many of which have now been preserved in archives around the world.
