Day 35 Exodus 16-18 A test in the wilderness. “Prove them” = Nasa H-5254 Strong's Definitions: נָסָהnâçâh, naw-saw'; a primitive root; to test; by implication, to attempt:—adventure, assay, prove, tempt, try. Exodus 16:4 (KJV) Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. The first time we see this word is with Abraham with the offering of Issac. Genesis 22:1 (KJV) And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, [here] I [am]. God teaches the Sabbath and tests his people before the Holy Covenant/Ten Commandments are given. From the New Testament we get here from Hebrews 4 and Psalms 95. Hebrews 4:6-7 (KJV) 6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: 7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. Psalms 95:8-9 (KJV) 8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, [and] as [in] the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. There is Nasa H-5254 again. This is a warning against unbelief. In Hebrews 4 the word “rest” is used many times, but all uses are the Greek word katapausis G-2663 the heavenly rest. Then in verse 4:9 you would miss the change if you didn't uses concordance because it is a different word sabbatismos G-4520 Hebrews 4:9 (KJV) There remaineth therefore a rest[G-4520] to the people of God. Other versions catch this Hebrews 4:9 (NASB95) So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. It is a huge error that church doctrine profanes the Sabbath. Exodus 31:13 (KJV) Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it [is] a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that [ye] may know that I [am] the LORD that doth sanctify you. Again God remembers the Covenant he made with Abraham Exodus 17:6 (KJV) Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. Psalms 105:41-45 (KJV) 41 He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places [like] a river. 42 For he remembered his holy promise, [and] Abraham his servant. 43 And he brought forth his people with joy, [and] his chosen with gladness: 44 And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people; 45 That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the LORD.
