A Lancashire Walk - Euxton, Eccleston, Croston & Mawdesley Round Route - 4K

Hi Folks, Well it’s been ages since we have been out as injury has plagued me since October with a bout of Sciatica and then latterly a Man cold… On recovery we have planned a packed Summer schedule for our channel and in some attempt to regain our fitness we decided to start with a walk around our home wintering grounds. Sue and I were both born and raised no mare than half a mile from where we currently live on the outskirts of Euxton. As children and both being born to farming stock we both spent lots of our childhood in the surrounding countryside which has many wonderful indelible memories for us. So we thought it would be a great idea to document these memories and bring them to you. We start our walk at Billinge Hall Wood. My grandparents once owned Billinge Hall Farm so our start point was once where I spent most of my early years. Following the River Yarrow we discuss and take a look at the Croston flood defence system then head on into Eccleston. A brief stop at the beautiful Eccleston St Mary’s Church to spend a quiet moment with my Grandparents and Mum before setting off towards Croston. Picking up the Yarrow again we soon reach Croston walking past St Michaels Church and the quaint Church Walks. Once over the accent packsaddle bridge we are out on Croston Moss and heading towards Mawdesly. Reaching the outskirts of Mawdesly we head for another childhood haunt of mine, Knowles Wood. Through Knowles Wood we head back again towards Eccleston and the radically changed from my childhood the ‘Steppies.’ Once over the new bridge that now spans the stepping stones we pass my old Primary School Eccleston St Mary’s. Heading now for home we head down Bradley Lane and through Bradley Hall Farm and once again over the fields to once again pick up the River Yarrow. Once over the Yarrow for the last time we complete the circular walk back at Billinge Hall Wood. We sincerely hope you enjoy the film and don’t forget to like and subscribe.
