Tips on how to start drawing ⬇️ ✿ Drawing everyday, even doodles, may seem daunting and hard to achieve, but START SMALL, draw zentangles! Try approaching this as a challenge esp if it might help push yourself to do it 💪🏻 ✿ Set rules to make it EASIER for you to draw every day. For me, I told myself that it doesn’t have to look polished. Drawing kinda looks like shit in my opinion? Went out of the line? Whatever, I’m done for the day, I’ll do better tomorrow 🤷🏻‍♀️ ✿ Remind yourself that the goal for this is to actually DO something. You WILL get better eventually bc you’re training your brain to figure out how to achieve something AND muscle memory! We want to build CONFIDENCE, and trust me that’s quite important to kickstart on any project. Confidence to know that you may fail, and that’s ok. Confidence to start ugly sketches that are drawn over a couple of times on a blank piece of paper and knowing that you can polish it after. As someone who cannot visualise, the skillset and confidence of getting shapes right was what I really needed 🫡 ✿ Save your brain juice on idea generation, I use Sketch a Day app which gives me a new prompt every day, and also show me what the community has done so it gives me more ideas to get the ball rolling ☄️ ✿ Don’t be afraid to copy illustrations or ideas for this challenge, I hated doing that before this, cause I worry about copying my favourite artists, but I made it clear to myself that this challenge is PRACTICE. I’m not selling the artworks, and it’s for my own learning journey. And credit the artist if you did reference their work! I found that eventually I start to be able to pick up references from different sources and make the art my own - which is what art usually ends up being anyway, right?
