As an Argon8 keyboard owner, the Argon8M desktop unit has the same functionality as the keyboard version but in a more streamlined interface. It's well-built, easy to program on the fly and allows for easy manipulation of wavetables and sounds. If you own the keyboard version, you can also polychain the 8M desktop for up to 16 voices of polyphony, which makes it even more lush. I really enjoy the Argon8M (and Argon8) - it's a great wavetable synth with its own character and the smaller form factor/interface of the 8M does not hinder sound design at all. It also comes with rack ears if you prefer to mount it in your rig. If you don't have room for the keyboard version, the desktop version is worth considering as a great alternative.
