Here is a step-by-step guide for applying water-soluble fertilizers like NPK 19:19:19, NPK 12:00:61, potassium schoenite, and calcium nitrate (CN) to watermelon plants: --- 1. Preparation 1. Determine the Growth Stage: Use NPK 19:19:19 during vegetative and early flowering stages. Use NPK 12:00:61 and potassium schoenite during fruit development and ripening stages for better quality and size. Apply calcium nitrate to prevent calcium deficiency and enhance fruit firmness. 2. Fertilizer Dosage: NPK 19:19:19: 2-3 grams per liter of water. NPK 12:00:61: 2-3 grams per liter of water. Potassium schoenite: 3-5 grams per liter of water. Calcium nitrate: 2-4 grams per liter of water. 3. Dilution: Dissolve each fertilizer separately in water to avoid reactions between incompatible chemicals. --- 2. Application Methods 1. Drip Irrigation: Add the prepared solution to the irrigation system for uniform distribution. Apply in early morning or late evening to minimize evaporation loss. 2. Foliar Spray: Spray diluted fertilizer directly onto the leaves for quick nutrient absorption. Avoid spraying during hot weather or when rain is expected. 3. Soil Drenching: Pour the solution around the root zone for direct uptake by the roots. --- 3. Application Schedule Vegetative Stage (0-30 Days After Planting): Apply NPK 19:19:19 every 7-10 days. Flowering Stage (30-50 Days After Planting): Continue with NPK 19:19:19 or start with NPK 12:00:61 for phosphorus and potassium support. Fruit Development Stage (50 Days Onwards): Use NPK 12:00:61, potassium schoenite, and calcium nitrate alternately every 7 days. --- 4. Important Tips Use clean, chlorine-free water to mix the fertilizers. Do not mix calcium nitrate with fertilizers containing sulfates or phosphates. Always check the pH of the solution and maintain it around 6-6.5. Observe the plants regularly for signs of nutrient deficiency or excess.
