National Volunteer Week 2024: Jon Saunders and the Victoria State Emergency Service

At VicEmergency, we’re celebrating the 2.3 million Victorians who volunteer within their communities. This week in a four-part series, we’ll be showcasing some of our staff from Emergency Management Victoria who not only dedicate their time to helping others at work but also do so when off duty as volunteers. In this video, we hear from Jon Saunders, Lead Officer, Capability Development, in his volunteer role as Deputy Controller of the Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) Fawkner Unit. VICSES is made up of 5,000+ dedicated volunteers who respond to floods, storms, rescues, building damage, earthquakes and more.
