John Singleton Mosby and his Partisan Rangers disrupted U.S. Army communications along the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in Virginia as part of a coordinated effort to support Lt. Gen. Jubal Early’s 1864 invasion of the North that culminated in the Battle of the Monocacy and the Raid on Washington, D.C. In one move, Mosby's men compelled the surrender of a garrison at Duffield's Station along the B&O without firing a shot. One of the captured men, John J. White, wound up as a prisoner at Andersonville. "Life on the Civil War Research Trail" is hosted by Ronald S. Coddington, Editor and Publisher of Military Images magazine.
