So, what did this experience teach me? 1) I can memorize tons of lines with the aide of my smartphone by recording myself reading everybody else's lines with breaks in between so that in my private time I can rehearse opposite myself, 2) I can totally hold my own, stagefright-free, in front of a reasonably large audience, 3) I can work well with anybody, and 4) I am a terrible everyman. One reviewer said I was unconvincing as a TV heartthrob, but I come into my own as Hamlet; she suspected I have some background in the classics, which I don't. I just play a better over-the-top exaggerated freak character than an ordinary guy, as I proved with the show I did after this one as the Child Catcher in "Chitty." I was still proud of myself though for landing a lead and living through it. I confess I felt a little bit burned when, at the annual Spotlight awards, during the video recap of the season, the montage for "I Hate Hamlet" showcased more of the rest of the cast than of me, but looking back over the video, I can see (and hear) why.
