As expected, Yunalesca won't take 'no' for an answer - if Yuna will not accept the Final Summoning, she will be forced to destroy them all. Auron - who has pushed Yuna to this point, to make the choice he did not - tells them that this is their destiny - 'to face your sorrow and fight'. Wakka definitely isn't happy, but even he can't run out on his friends now. Yunalesca is fittingly the most potent enemy the characters have faced - they must fight three versions of the First Summoner, each more nightmarish than the last. As always, tactics play a vital role. From her second incarnation, her tentacles will inflict Zombie status and then she'll damage them with Cure spells. You can't heal while under Zombie status, but neither can you afford to cure it. For in her last incarnation - an enormous, hideous medusa head - she will cast Mega Death that will kill any character not in Zombie status. What to do? The answer lies in a clever trick; armour with elemental Eater properties will still Absorb elemental damage, allowing you to heal even in Zombie status. Rikku should have stolen enough fire gems from the Grenades on the slopes of Gagazet to make some Fire Eater armour. Using a team of Rikku, Yuna and Lulu, the latter healing with her Firaga spell and Yuna using Dispel to cure Regen, you can weather Yunalesca's attacks and chip her health down until you can finish her off with Tenryu's Mega-Flare Overdrive. The rewards are worth it, the implications immense. Yunalesca laments the loss of the Final Summoning as she fades, fearing the world has lost its only hope. Tiberius says they will find another way to destroy Sin, this time for good. Make sure you take the Sun Crest before you leave - you can't get it without taking the 'stairs to nowhere' at the end of Yunalesca's area. If you don't get this now, you won't be able to unlock the Celestial Weapon of Tiberius unless you defeat Dark Bahamut later... This battle ends the fourth story arc, and the storyline itself. The pilgrimage is over, and now the characters find themselves in brand new territory. For now, Cid comes along to pick them up on the Farenheit, and they can fly wherever they wish.
