In Part 1, we mix our molding material (alginate-a powder made of non-toxic seaweed powder), pick our pose and mold a hand holding a paw, mix up our casting material (dental plaster, but any plaster will work, I do not recommend plaster of paris as it is too delicate), and pour. Part 2 will address: -demolding your plaster piece -clean up -patching air bubbles -finishing your piece for display -sealing your piece for longevity Of course, Amazon is a great source for most, if not all, the required materials for an affordable price. There are also DIY kits available online and in hobby stores that have everything in the kit for molding and casting. Materials used: -Dermagel alginate powder -2 gal bucket -spray-on pet conditioner -drop cloth/plastic -green dental plaster (comparable to hydrocal or other casting stone) -Kong with LOTS of frozen peanut butter!
