Police are to get new powers to use "reasonable force" to escort people home if they defy the Government’s coronavirus lockdown. Officers will be able to "remove" a person to their home if they are in a group of more than two and refuse to disperse. The regulations, laid before Parliament, say police can "use reasonable force, if necessary, in the exercise" of this power. Officers will also have the power to "direct" parents or carers to ensure their children are taken home.
