Today’s training session focuses on why transitioning back to a snaffle bit is so important in colt training — even after riding in a bridle. Going back to foundational snaffle work allows us to refine communication, improve lateral flexion, and make sure the horse is truly soft through the body rather than simply responding to increased pressure. We use natural, rugged terrain and take advantage of the windy conditions to test Jae’s focus and consistency. Real-world training builds a confident, thinking horse, especially when outside distractions — including a curious coyote — come into play. In this video, we cover: • Snaffle bit foundation for young horses • Improving bend and lateral softness • Building responsiveness and feel • Transitioning from bridle back to snaffle • Training a colt in windy conditions • Using natural terrain to strengthen foundation Disclaimer: The coyote was not harmed and had plenty of room to leave. Our focus remains on building a responsive, thinking horse- even when distractions show up. :) If you’re interested in practical horsemanship, colt starting, and building a solid foundation that holds up outside the arena, subscribe and follow along as we continue Jae’s progress. #colts #horsesforsale #horsemanship #horsetraining #mcnameecoltcompany #jagchicshines
