This video is about Anthracnose, a fungal infection that can attack orchids. All information in this video is based on my oberservation, experiences and internet research - it's just my hobbyist's point of view. I am not able to perform tests to verify a diagnosis, thus my perspective is limited. I didn’t want to introduce a sick plant into my collection, cutting the infected parts didn’t help and the symptoms progressed rather quickly. That’s why I chose to use a fungicide this time. I don’t want to promote the use of fungicides and still think: If you can avoid it, please avoid it. Pathogen: Colletotrichum and Glomerella species. Thrives under moist and warm conditions and a a lack of air movement. Spores spread by rain drops and air. As always: Prevention is better than cure. Don’t introduce sick plants into your collection. Remove infected tissue, clean surrounding surfaces. Don’t just take the fungicide that you have in the cupboard, do your research first.
