Odon is asked to explain the existence of the Satanic Verses (Surah 53:19-20) in the Qur'an in light of his view that this area at that time was pagan, and without Muhammad. Odon began by noting that there is a part of the 2 verses which are missing in today's Qur'an, but are well attested to in the writings of the SIN, particularly in the compilations of Waquidi, Hisham, Ibn Sa'd, and Al Tabari. In these compilations the phrase "These are the exalted gharaniq (goddesses) whose intercession is hoped for" was in the original text, but have been censored from the Qur'an today, proving clearly that sometime after the 10th century the Qur'an was changed. Odon continues that it is obvious that these verses were written by a Christian preacher mocking the pagans in Petra for worshiping the goddesses (Al-Lat, al Uzza and al Manat). This caused a dilemma for the Abbasid Muslims who had by the 9th century elevated Muhammad as the receiver of the Qur'an; yet, how could he accept such pagan worship of goddesses "whose intercession is hoped for", as that suggests 'shirk', the elevating of others alongside Allah? That is why they had to excise that phrase out of the Qur'an and introduce the idea that these 2 verses were caused by Satan who seduced Muhammad into including them, while living in Mecca. By introducing this seduction narrative, the Abbasids then caused 3 major problems: 1) In excising the text, this proves that the Qur'an has been manipulated and changed by Men, though the Qur'an itself says this cannot be done to an eternal text (Surahs 10:15; 15:9; 18:27; 85:22). 2) Because Muhammad was seduced by Satan, it proves that he is weak and open to seduction. 3) If Muhammad could so easily be seduced into including these verses, what other verses was he also seduced and manipulated with? The Abbasids didn't eradicate a problem, but compounded it even more proving that the Qur'an and Muhammad are both later inventions, redacted from the 9th-10th centuries back to the 7th. © Pfander Centre for Apologetics - US, 2021 (57,450) Music: "Natural Paradise" by Musiclfiles, from filmmusic-io
