Welcome to our 300th Youtube Video. Today we will be doing a Video Cooking Demonstration and recipe for Queen of Puddings made in the Thermochef. This light, sweet, fluffy old fashioned family favourite dessert is easy to make, tastes delicious hot or cold and is very economical. Easily serving a family of 6. Helps to use up day old cake, which is often available at a discounted price at the end of the day from a bakery or supermarket. Do give it a try. INGREDIENTS: 500 grams milk 250 grams day old cake 60 grams raw sugar 5 grams vanilla extract 4 eggs separated 100 grams jam 40 grams caster sugar and a pinch of salt for the meringue. METHOD: Break the cake into rough chunks and lay in the bottom of an ungreased casserole dish and dot the jam over the top. Into the Thermochef jug place the raw sugar, egg yolks, milk and vanilla and cook for 1 minute speed 5 at 80 degrees, then pour the custard mixture over the cake and jam. Place the casserole dish into a 180 degree celsius oven for 15 minutes while you prepare the meringue. For the meringue Place the butterfly bar on the blade then beat the egg whites with the salt for 3 minutes on speed 4 . NEVER exceed speed 4 when using the butterfly bar. Gradually drop the castor sugar in to the jug through the MC hole and continue beating until all the sugar has dissolved and the meringue is white, glossy and holds its peaks. Scrape the meringue onto the cake and custard mixture and make peaks in it. with a spatula or your finger. Place into a 150 degree oven for 15-25 minutes until the meringue is lightly browned all over and the custard still has a slight wobble in the centre when jiggled. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Delicious Hot, warm or cold. This impressive very Regal Dessert looks a lot more difficult to make than it is.
