Discover the ASUS RS501A-E12-RS12U server, designed for high performance with the AMD Turin 9005 processors, DDR5 memory, and flexible storage options. In this overview, we’ll break down the server’s key specifications, including processing power, memory, storage configurations, and much more. At its core, this server features one AMD Turin 9005 processor or one AMD Genoa 9004 processor, utilizing the SP5 socket. We’ll explore the best configurations and recommend CPUs for different applications. The server also supports 24 DDR5 DIMM slots allowing for up to 3TB of memory with speeds up to 5600MT/s, however, speeds will clock down depending on the rank of your memory module and what processor you are using. This setup ensures you can fully leverage the system’s processing power, with support for both RDIMM (ECC Registered) and 3DS RDIMM (3DS ECC REGISTERED) memory types, offering module sizes from 16GB to 128GB. Storage flexibility is another highlight, with a 12-Bay SFF or a 16-Bay SFF chassis (12 bays in the front and 4 internal 2.5” storage bays) supporting NVMe SSD, SAS SSD, SATA SSD, SATA HDD & SAS HDD drives. If you’re using SAS drives, a RAID card and additional cabling are needed to maximize performance. We’ll also discuss drive speeds and capacities. NVMe SSDs will have a faster speed with a PCIe 5.0 at 32Gb/s whereas with PCIe 4.0 it will still be fast but not as fast as a 5.0, making them perfect for high-performance applications. SATA SSDs provide up to 6Gb/s, while SAS SSDs offer up to 24Gb/s. For storage capacity, NVMe reaches a max capacity of 61.44TB and SAS SSDs can handle up to 30.72TB, while SATA SSDs max out at 7.68TB. Typically, with SFF drives you would want to use SSDs, but incase you are wondering, the max capacity for a SATA HDD is going to be 4TB and for a SAS HDD you can reach 2.4TB. SATA HDD will have 7.2K RPM for the speed and SAS HDD will have 7.2K RPM, 10K RPM, or 15K RPM.
